My name is Carlos J. Celis. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Public and Urban Policy at The New School for Social Research and a teaching fellow in Transdisciplinary Design at Parsons School of Design. 

I study technopolitics, feminism, and public policy in U.S. and Latin American cities, with a focus on care and immigration. I draw on ethnographic and geographic methods to understand how state experts scientize and technify political action, and how social movements, in turn, politicize policy expertise, economic indicators, and public infrastructure.

I have been a doctoral fellow at the Graduate Institute for Design, Ethnography, and Social Thought, the Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies, and the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility at The New School.
